The ten-day holiday soccer camp at Twinbrook Schools in Bamba, Kasangati Town Council, came to a close today Tuesday, September 9. Over 150 children participated in the camp, benefiting from training sessions led by experienced coaches at the camp and those from Germany and the Netherlands. Participants also had an opportunity to meet and learn from current Uganda Cranes soccer team players.

The event was attended by notable soccer personalities, including international soccer star and goalkeeper Dennis Masinde Onyango, Uganda cranes Alan Okello (Twinbrook Soccer Academy ambassadors), former professional soccer players like Kasangati Town Council Mayor Muwonge Tom, FUFA soccer scout Ssenfuka Patrick, and Tenywa Mubarak.

During the event, Onyango and Okello encouraged the children to pursue their passion for soccer, highlighting the financial opportunities available in sports today. They emphasized the importance of hard work, discipline, and humility in achieving success. “You have got such a wonderful opportunity to have a well facilitated soccer training facility here at Twinbrook. We encourage all parents to use it to have their children receive proper training.” They continued to say.

Mayor Muwonge Tom praised Haji Ssenganda Jafar for initiating the soccer training facility and expressed satisfaction with the standard of training provided. He urged parents to continue supporting their children in discovering their talents and promised the town council’s support for such initiatives.

Haji Ssenganda Jafar thanked the parents, soccer icons, trainers, and everyone involved in the camp’s success. He encouraged parents to provide opportunities for their children to engage in sports, highlighting potential career paths beyond playing, such as sports medical staff, Soccer coaching and training, scouting and analysis, Sports management and administration, and Sports Business and Marketing.

The camp’s success was evident, with participants displaying talent and enthusiasm. Mr. Ssenfuka Patrick, part of the coaching team, expressed gratitude to the parents for their support and invited them to bring more children for training during the December holidays.

The participants received medals and certificates of participation and were thrilled to take photos with their coaches, soccer icons, and parents. Many aspire to play for top clubs like Arsenal and Liverpool, and some even emulated Alan Okello’s goal celebrations.
